The following notes provide a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit our website. Personal data is any data with which you can be personally identified.
We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations (in particular the Swiss Data Protection Act, revDSG, as well as the European General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) and this privacy policy.

2. Data collection on our website
No tracking cookies
Our website deliberately refrains from using tracking cookies (such as Google Analytics) or marketing cookies. No user profiles are created across different websites. A cookie banner (consent banner) is therefore not required.
Local Storage
We use your browser's so-called “Local Storage” to store functional settings (e.g. your filter settings for the session planner, the chosen wind unit – km/h, knots or Beaufort – or the chosen colour scheme) directly on your device. This data is not sent to our servers, does not serve tracking purposes and is technically necessary to provide the app functions you have requested.
Language cookie
So that the website appears in your preferred language (German, French or English) on your next visit, we store your language choice in a technically necessary cookie named “NEXT_LOCALE”. This cookie contains only the language code (e.g. “en”), does not serve tracking purposes and does not create a user profile. It is required for the multilingual website to function and is therefore exempt from the consent requirement. It is stored for a maximum of 12 months and can be deleted at any time in your browser settings.
Server log files & hosting (Vercel)
This website is hosted via the service Vercel (Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA). When you access our website, Vercel automatically collects information in so-called server log files that your browser transmits automatically. These include, among others:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Hostname of the accessing computer (IP address)
- Time of the server request
This data is not merged with other data sources and serves solely the technically error-free presentation and optimization of the website.
Vercel Web Analytics & Speed Insights
We use “Vercel Web Analytics” and “Vercel Speed Insights” for privacy-friendly analysis of website usage and performance. Vercel Analytics uses no cookies. Instead, to recognise returning visitors for a short period (at most one day), an anonymous hash value is generated from the IP address and the user agent of your browser. This hash value is given a new random value (salt) daily, so that your actual IP address is not stored and cross-site tracking or personal identification is excluded.
3. Third-party services
To display the weather maps and data correctly, our website integrates external services. When you use these functions, your IP address is transmitted to the servers of the respective providers, as the data could otherwise not be sent to your browser.
- Mapbox & OpenStreetMap: For displaying the interactive maps we use Mapbox (Mapbox Inc., USA) as well as map data from OpenStreetMap.
- Weather data: Weather models from MeteoSwiss (Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology) and Météo-France are provided in aggregated form by our servers.
4. Your rights
You have the right at any time to obtain free information about your stored personal data, its origin and recipients and the purpose of the data processing, as well as a right to rectification, blocking or deletion of this data. However, since – as described above – we do not store any of your personal data on a stockpile basis, such requests generally come to nothing.
